If you are planning to go to an NBA basketball game, you may be wondering if you can bring a basketball to the NBA game. While it may seem like a simple thing, the security at NBA games are actually quite strict. So, to figure out if you are allowed to bring a basketball to an NBA game, I called 8 different NBA stadium security teams. This is what I found out.
Can you bring a basketball to an NBA game? According to the security staff at 8 different NBA stadiums, you are not allowed to bring a basketball to an NBA game. This means that basketballs are prohibited from most/all NBA games.
Even if the ball is deflated, they are still now allowed to be brought into NBA stadiums. This is mainly because the stadiums sell their own basketballs for fans to purchase, so allowing fans to bring in their own would likely impact their sales.
What To Do If You Already Brought A Basketball And You Are At The NBA Game?
If you already brought a basketball to the NBA stadium, but now know you can not bring the ball in, you still have a few options:
- Check in the basketball to guest services and retrieve the ball at the end of the game
- Return the ball to your car if you drove
- Purchase an outdoor storage locker for the basketball and get the ball after the game
So, even if you did bring a basketball to an NBA game, there are still ways that you can at least store the ball due to the fact that you cannot bring it to the game.
